Hello! My name is Leighanne Lake Kubec.
I received my BA degree from Boston College and my JD from Fordham University School of Law. In 2011 I left the practice of law to pursue my lifelong passion for health and wellness. I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, NYC and State University of New York at Purchase College, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods.
The combination of my legal and nutritional background, along with my own deeply personal real life experiences have led me to specialize in two areas: eating disorders and corporate workshops. While seemingly unrelated, I have more than 20 years of experience in both.
I counsel individuals in a safe and supportive one-on-one setting, where I specialize in emotional eating and eating disorders. Millions of Americans suffer from eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, compulsive or binge eating. Whether you are eating too much or too little, eating out of happiness or anger--any eating disorder interferes with leading a full, productive, happy life. In many cases such disordered eating can lead to severe medical complications, depression, isolation, substance abuse and even death.
I know from personal experience that an individualized plan of action which allows you to regain control of your life, your goals and your dreams for the future, is a vital component of long lasting permanent recovery. I am fully committed to seeing my clients escape from the self destructive cycle of disordered eating and to replace it with a life filled with health, wellness, vitality and joy. I am living, breathing proof that a healthy lifestyle is within your reach.
In addition, as a busy mother of two young children and a lawyer for almost 20 years, I experienced first-hand the challenges of incorporating health and nutrition into my hectic family life in a time efficient and economical way. In an industry where 60 hour work weeks are normal and 80 hour work weeks are not uncommon, I know how incredibly hard it is to fit health and wellness into your daily schedule. But I also know the devastating consequences of not doing so—substance abuse, eating disorders, failed relationships, obesity, fatigue, illness—something will catch up with you at some point if your health and wellness continue to be ignored.
My program is a holistic approach that addresses not only physical health and fitness, but also preventive care for the whole person. My workshops focus on diet and nutrition, stress reduction (including introductions to meditation and yoga) and lifestyle management
